Furniture removal prices in Utica, NY
We price by how much space your furniture takes in the truck, not by how long the job takes. That means the number you hear on the phone is the number you pay.
| What you are getting rid of | Flat rate | What that covers |
|---|---|---|
| One couch, sectional piece, mattress, or dresser | $200 | Carry-out from any floor, loading, hauling, disposal |
| Two pieces, for example a couch and a loveseat | $300 | $150 each |
| A bedroom set: bed, dresser, nightstands | $325–$400 | Quarter to half load |
| A living room cleared out | $400–$475 | Half to three-quarter load |
| Multiple rooms or a house full of furniture | $600 | Full truckload |
If a piece has to be taken apart to get it out of the room, or lifted out through a window or a tight stairwell, that is labor beyond loading and hauling and it is priced above the tier. You will hear that number before we start, never after.

Can you put furniture out on garbage day?
Usually not, and this is the question we get asked more than any other. Most municipal pickup in the Utica area does not take upholstered furniture, mattresses, or large wooden pieces with the regular trash. Some towns run a bulk pickup week once or twice a year, which works well if your timing lines up with it. If it does not, or if the couch is already sitting at the curb collecting rain, that is when people call us.
Leaving furniture at the curb between pickups is also how a lot of people end up with a code violation, particularly in the city of Utica and in rental properties. A single-piece pickup at $200 is generally cheaper than a fine.
Donation first, disposal second
Furniture that still has life in it should not be in a landfill, and a surprising amount of what we pick up is perfectly usable. A dresser someone redecorated around, a couch from a staged house, office chairs from a business that upgraded. When a piece is clean and structurally sound, we route it to donation rather than to the transfer station.
What cannot be donated gets broken down for what can be recovered. Metal bed frames and filing cabinets go to scrap. The rest goes to disposal. If you would like to know where a specific piece ended up, ask us and we will tell you.
Five steps, often same day.
No in-person estimate needed for a single piece. A photo is usually enough to give you a firm number.

Where can I get rid of a couch in Utica, NY?
Utica Junk Removal picks up couches anywhere in Utica and Oneida County for a flat $200 for a single piece, or $300 for two pieces. We carry it out of whatever room it is in, including from a second floor or a basement, at no extra charge. Most municipal trash pickup will not take upholstered furniture, and donation centers generally will not collect it from your home, which is why most people end up calling a hauler. Email a photo to info@junkremovaluticany.com for a firm price.
How much does furniture removal cost?
A single piece of furniture is $200 and two pieces are $300, which works out to $150 each. Larger jobs are priced by volume: a quarter load is $325, a half load $400, a three-quarter load $475, and a full truckload $600. The flat rate covers loading, hauling, and disposal. Pieces that have to be disassembled or lifted out through a tight space are quoted above the tier, always before work starts.
Do I have to move the furniture outside first?
No. Leave it exactly where it sits. Our crew does all the lifting and carrying, including down staircases, up out of basements, and through narrow doorways. There is no stair fee and no charge for the floor it happens to be on. If a piece will not fit through a door, we take it apart on site.
Can you throw out furniture on garbage day?
In most of the Utica area, no. Municipal pickup generally does not take upholstered furniture, mattresses, or large wooden pieces with regular trash. Some towns run a bulk pickup week once or twice a year. If your timing does not line up with it, or the piece is already at the curb, a single-item pickup at $200 is usually cheaper than risking a code violation.
Who picks up furniture for donation in Utica?
Most local donation centers accept drop-offs but will not come collect furniture from inside your home, and they turn away anything stained, torn, or structurally damaged. We handle both halves: we carry the piece out, and if it is clean and sound we route it to donation rather than disposal. If it is not donatable, it goes to disposal and you pay the same flat rate either way.
Do you remove sectionals and sleeper sofas?
Yes, and both are routine for us. Sleeper sofas are considerably heavier than a standard couch because of the steel frame and mattress inside, and sectionals often have to come apart to clear a doorway. Neither changes the flat rate on its own. Tell us which one you have when you call so we send the right crew size.
Can you take furniture with bed bugs or mold?
Sometimes, but tell us before we arrive. We cannot route contaminated furniture to donation, and heavy mold or infestation changes how the piece has to be wrapped and disposed of. We would rather know on the phone than discover it in the doorway. If we cannot take it, we will say so honestly rather than waste your time.
How fast can you pick up furniture?
Same-day and next-day pickup is available most of the year across Utica, Clinton, Rome, New Hartford, and the surrounding towns. Weekdays book up faster than weekends. Call 315-509-3762 with a description, or email a photo to info@junkremovaluticany.com, and we will tell you the soonest we can be there.
